It's officially free ice cream season.

Häagen-Dazs shops are having a free cone day on May 14 from 4-8 p.m. Visitors can get one free scoop of ice cream in a sugar cone, cake cone or cup.

There's also another aspect to Häagen-Dazs's free cone day — the company is recognizing honey bees and their contributions to the world by dedicating its free cone day to our buzzing friends.

"We look forward to Free Cone Day every year as an opportunity to thank our loyal fans while simultaneously recognizing the pollinators that make our ice cream possible,"  Adam Hanson, The Häagen-Dazs Shoppe Company, Inc. president and general manager, said in a statement.
