Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction
The Colorado Avalanche (11-7-1) finish up a two-game road set against the San Jose Sharks (8-9-2) Wednesday with a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at SAP Center. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Sharks odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.
Avalanche at Sharks: Odds, spread and lines

- Against the spread/ATS : Avalanche -1.5 (+125) | Sharks +1.5 (-150)

Avalanche at Sharks: Projected starting goalies
Philipp Grubauer (10-6-0, 2.20 GAA, .915 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Martin Jones (7-5-1, 3.70 GAA, .883 SV%)
Grubauer was tuned up for 5 goals on 26 shots in a 6-2 loss Monday in San Jose, so he'll have revenge on his mind. He has lost three of his past four starts and allowed 3 or more goals in each of those losses. It's easily his poorest stretch of the season, as he hadn't lost back-to-back games until Feb. 22 and 24. He hadn't even allowed 3 or more goals in consecutive outings until then.
Jones will look to replicate his results against the Avs from Monday. He made 33 saves in the 6-2 win, atoning for an early-season beatdown in Colorado when he coughed up five goals on 19 shots and ended up getting pulled in a 7-3 loss. He hasn't won consecutive starts since Feb. 5 and 9, and he hasn't won consecutive starts in regulation in a calendar year.

Avalanche at Sharks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks
Avalanche 5, Sharks 3
Money line (ML)
The Avalanche (-225) will cost you two or more times your potential return, and they're a risky play since they enter just 2-3 across their past five games. They lost by a 4-goal margin Monday, and they have been outscored 19-13 across their past five games.
You don't want to risk more than two times your potential return on a team whose play is rather cool. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
Rarely, if ever, do I like the underdog on the puck line, but the SHARKS +1.5 (-150) are a solid play at this price tag.
They have scored 19 goals across their past four games, including 12 in their previous two. Even if Jones isn't killing it in the crease, they're still finding ways to hang around with timely goals.
The OVER 6 (-110) has cashed in four straight games for the Sharks, as not only are they averaging 3.25 goals per game across their past four, they're allowing 4.0 goals per game, too.
The Avalanche are also on a 3-1 Over run across their past four games after a 5-0 Under run. Play the trend.
