UDALL, KANSAS The Flinthills Mustangs ended a 9-game losing streak as they beat Udall in their regular season finale 28-14.

It’s Flinthll’s first win since Oct. 18 of last year.

“We did a good job minimizing penalties and converting important third downs to keep the ball in our hands,” Flinthills head coach Daniel Scribner said. “Our physicality up front was solid all night.”

Udall took an early 6-0 lead but Flinthlls responded with a drive of their own when Hunter Lowmaster found Tucker Travnichek for a touchdown pass. That gave even the game at 6-all in the first quarter.

Then, Flinthills would stop Udall twice inside the 10-yard line and score before the half on a Lowmaster score to give them a 12-6 lead at the break.

Udall responded to open the second half with a drive and took the league on the ensuing 2-point conversion. However, this would not be the night Flinthills would be denied. They responded with a touchdown on a fourth and goal. Then, tacked on an insurance goal with three minutes remaining.

“We kept mixing up our fronts, along with solid secondary play,” Flinthills assistant coach Chase Casteel said.

Travnichek also had two interceptions on the defensive side of things.

The Mustangs finish the regular season 1-7.
