Outdoors letter: Kansas deer season lasts far too long

Topeka Capital-Journal
A reader of The Topeka Capital-Journal Outdoors section says the Kansas deer season lasts far too long.

I read the upcoming deer season in your article in the Salina Journal today and would like to comment about it. Deer season starts in September and runs though the middle of January seriously!  As a landowner and rifle deer hunter I think this is crazy. All deer hunters I believe want to shoot bucks and this never-ending season just creates opportunities for hunters to shoot more than one buck. The season in January I have been told, some bucks have shed and are mistaken for does. So I for one believe the deer season should be shortened and the January season eliminated. Someone needs to stand up and represent the deer. Thanks.
