Fans can help name a NASCAR race and help farmers at the same time
Busch is giving NASCAR fans the opportunity to choose the name of one of the biggest events in NASCAR, the NASCAR Cup Series race on May 2 at Kansas Speedway.
All fans need to do is make a $1 donation to Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization that supports family farmers in the Dakotas, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska and, just recently, Kansas. Each submission for the name of the race is another dollar that goes to help a farmer in need.
The winning fan-created name will become the official race title across the country, appearing on the logo, tickets to the event, NASCAR.com and race merchandise. It also will be etched into the glass at Kansas Speedway. Kansas native and professional race car driver Clint Bowyer will announce the name during the race.
There is no limit on the number of submissions. Last summer, Busch helped Farm Rescue expand to Kansas. In June, volunteers helped a Kansas farmer in Abilene with his wheat harvest.
Farm Rescue wants to help more Kansas farmers with harvest this year, and these funds will help make that happen.
“The support that they’ve shown us is amazing,” said Don Endmann, the program manager of Farm Rescue.
Last year, Farm Rescue gathered volunteers in Kansas but had some trouble reaching farmers who needed help. This summer, they hope to reach out to more Kansans and let them know help is out there. Endmann said Farm Rescue is there to lend a helping hand, so when troubles come, there is someone to call for help.
“We don’t want them losing the farm,” he said. “It’s neighbors helping neighbors.”
Busch will match every donation
Some of these neighbors are retired farmers who come from 49 states. Others are people who grew up on a farm and want to help out someone in need. All of them volunteer their services.
Endmann said it is never easy for a farmer to ask for help, but he wants them to know they can. Farm Rescue is there if a farmer is ill or injured, or if a natural disaster has occurred.
Busch will match every $1 donation with $1 of their own. After collecting all entries that meet the terms and conditions, Busch will hand the keys over to fans to vote on four of the top names to determine a winner. Voting will take place on @BuschBeer between March 8 and 9.
