Despite the heroics of Wildcat goal keeper, Jett Roberts, the Rose Hill Rockets beat El Dorado 8-0 on Tuesday night at Rose Hill High School.


The Rockets improved to 5-1 on the season and now have three straight matches.


Roberts made the Rockets pay. The senior who did not play keeper last season came through with multiple saves for the Wildcats. He gave you shades of Tim Howard in the 2014 World Cup with the onslaught the Rockets sent his way.


He never really wavered.


"He made us work all night," Rose Hill head coach Jerry Treat said. "We eventually made some plays but he was a rock for them."


The first goal was by senior Caden Dinkel, in the 12th minute but came on the 11th shot. Roberts had stopped the precious seven shots on goal.


Dinkel did it again in the 12th minute, with another assist from Leck. This time, it was off the rebound of a nice deflection by Roberts, making it 2-0 Rose Hill.


"I just try to find my teammates," Leck said. "Whether it was scoring or passing, just helping the team in any way I can."


The next two goal came within seconds of one another. Ethan Tucker struck a net in the 19th minute, Then, Andrew Weeks, the sophomore defender scored seconds later. In a matter of a flash, the score was 4-0.


Leck found the net in the 20th minute for his goal to go along with his two assists to make it 5-0 and Ethan Anderson added another with an assist from Dinkel in the 31st minute.


"He can find his teammates at the right spot," Treat said. "He’s had multiple assist games."


Rose Hill led 6-0 at halftime.


The Rockets added goals from senior Charlie Black in the 49th minute and Teagan Cobb in the 56th minute to make it 8-0. Black found the assist on Cobb’s shot from the 18-yard line.


"I was really happy for Charlie," Leck said. "I was trying to get him one when I was in there. He got one but it wasn’t from me. I’m still happy for him."


Rose Hill finished with 36 shots, 28 of them on goal.


Dinkel had two goals and assists for Rose Hill. Leck had a goal and two assists as the duo was too much early and often.


El Dorado’s keeper, Roberts, finished with 20 saves, including some diving saves that kept the game from reaching the mercy rule line.


"That goalie is really good," Treat said. "He made some really impressive saves."


The Rockets will travel to play Circle on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Circle High School. While, El Dorado will travel to Winfield on Thursday night and to Chanute on Monday, Sept. 21.
