Butler defensive end Josh Davies has committed to Texas Tech on Friday. The Sophomore becomes another Grizzly who will step foot on campus in Lubbock, following a host of players, such as Tony Jones, Octavious Morgan, Mychealon Thomas, Dennell Wesley and Marcus Kennard.
Davies, a sophomore was a catalyst in the defensive domination that was one of the best defenses in the nation, ranking top 10 in numerous categories and a large reason why Butler was able to fight through a stretch of injuries on the offensive side.
Davis, a native of Richland, Texas finished the season with 12 solo tackles and 53 total tackles. Davis was third in the Jayhawk Conference in total sacks and 28th nationally with 7.5 sacks.
Davis appeared in 10 games for Butler, pulling in a sack in at least six games. He had a stretch of games where he had at least six sacks in six straight games. Davies was instrumental in the win over Fort Scott on Oct. 19. He had six tackles, 1.5 sacks and another 1.5 tackles for losses.
According to 247Sports, Davis is a 3-star JUCO recruit, ranking 149th overall and 21st at his position. He had offers from Kansas State, Akron, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, North Texas and Western Kentucky.
He took only one visit and that was to Kansas State the weekend of Nov. 15.
