El Dorado enters 4A rankings

After dropping their first two matches of the sea- son, the El Dorado Wildcats volleyball team has caught a bt of fire.

El Dorado won five straight before splitting on Tuesday night to Buhler (25-21, 25-19) and Winfield (25-7, 25-20).

Over the weekend, El Dorado went 5-0 in the Win- field tournament, really gaining momentum with their winning ways happening, the Kansas Volleyball Association has recognized the Wildcats by moving them to No. 10 in the latest KVA rankings.

The Wildcats will return to the court in a triangular with Augusta and McPherson on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Andover ranked ninth in 5A

The Andover Trojans volleyball team has started the season off on the right foot. They’re 7-1 and that’s why KVA has put the Trojans ninth in 5A.

The Trojans started the season off 6-0 before falling to Goddard on Saturday in the AVCTL Preseason tournament (25-16, 25-20).

Andover added two more wins on Tuesday as they defeated Maize South and Arkansas City (25-15, 25-22) in a triangular in Ark City.

Andover will be back at it on Saturday in a tournament at Valley Center. It’s going to be a whos-who of City league and AVCTL teams.

Circle 9th in 4A

The Circle Thunderbirds had not played a lot of matches up to this point and the KVA did not punish them for that. Circle is 1-1 on the season with a sweep of Winfield on Sept. 3 (25-10, 25-11) for the win. McPherson returned the favor, sweeping Circle (26- 24, 25-21).

Circle has made up for the lack of scheduling as they beat Wellington 2-0 (25-15, 25-13) and Clearwater (25-17, 25-14) on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

They return to action on Saturday in the Southeast of Saline tournament. It’s scheduled to start at 9 a.m. 3A’s No. 3 Beloit is the expected favorite of the tournament. They’ll be back in Butler County for a triangular with 4A's No. 1 team, Andale and the No. 7 team Buhler on Thursday, Sept. 17.
