The Augusta softball team continued it’s undefeated season with a sweep of El Dorado on Thursday night. The Orioles won game one by a score of 12-0, before winning the second game, 15-8. Augusta improves to 14-0 on the season and will host Winfield for senior night on Thursday, May 2. El Dorado falls to 5-9 and will travel to Buhler on Monday, May 29.

Game 1 - Augusta 12, El Dorado 0

The Orioles dominated game one, winning 12-0 in five innings. Gracie Johnston pitched a no-hitter in five innings and finished with 12 strikeouts.

Sophie Johnston led the Orioles with three hits. Gracie Johnston finished with three RBIs.

Game 2 - Augusta 15, El Dorado 8

El Dorado scored two runs in the first inning to take their first lead of the night. The Wildcats’ lead was short-lived though, as Augusta put up 9 runs in the second inning. In the bottom of the second inning, Katie Fox tripled to score the Wildcats’ third run and make it 9-3.

In the third inning, Jadyn Jackson singled to score Ashlyn Bowen and Bailey Pennycuff. In the bottom of the third, El Dorado’s Kelsi McLaren singled to score Marissa Eaton and make it 11-4.

In the fourth inning, Marissa Eaton made it 11-5 with an RBI double, scoring Katie Fox from second.

Over the next two innings, Augusta built a 15-5 lead. El Dorado scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the comeback fell short as the Orioles were able to get the final out as Augusta pitcher Morgan Pennycuff recorded her fifth and final strikeout.

Martinique Merz finished with four hits for the Orioles. Augusta senior Kourtney Divine led Augusta with four RBIs.

Annalise Young and Katie Fox led the Wildcats with three hits each.
