The Circle High School girls track team took first at Tuesday’s 54th Annual Andover Invitational at Augusta High School. The Thunderbirds scored 119 points, edging Andover Central, who finished runner-up with 112 points. Several events featured athletes that are ranked at the top of the state in their classification. In the 100m Hurdles, Circle’s Tori McGinnis ran the fastest time in 4A so far this year with a 15.05, and Andover’s Lidia Dilollo was right behind her with a time of 15.18 for one of the top times in 5A. Tuesday’s meet also featured the top three high jumpers in 4A so far this year: Kayli Duncan and Grace Jacobs of Circle, and Nataleigh Cantu of Augusta. Cantu cleared 5’ 2” to take first.

In the sprints, Circle’s Kimalee Cook entered Tuesday as one of the top sprinters in 4A and proved that she will be one of the favorites going forward with one of the fastest 100m times in 4A. The T-Birds 4x100m Relay team is also in the top three in 4A and finished first on Tuesday. There is no question that Augusta’s Abbee Rhodes is the favorite to win the 4A title in shot put this season. Rhodes currently leads 4A with a season-best 45’ 2”. On Tuesday, Rhodes won with a throw of 41’ 6”.

On the Boys side, Salina South was the meet champion, beating Andover by just two points.
