The Augusta girls basketball team picked up a 48-36 road win at Collegiate on Tuesday night. Before Tuesday’s matchup with Collegiate, the Orioles went through a brutal four-game stretch in which they finished 1-3.
The Orioles got back on track as they cruised past Collegiate to pick up their ninth win of the season. In the first quarter, Augusta seniors Abbee Rhodes and Maddie Livingston dominated the paint. Rhodes and Livingston combined to score 14 of the Orioles 17 first-quarter points as Augusta took a 17-11 lead after one quarter. The Orioles increased their lead to double digits in the second quarter, but Collegiate knocked down a three right before the half to make it 27-18.
Each team scored 11 points in the third quarter, as Collegiate continued to hang around and keep the Oriole lead at single-digits heading into the fourth quarter.
Augusta was able to slow it down in the fourth quarter and hold off any comeback attempt by the Spartans in the final minutes as they cruised to a double-digit victory.
Abbee Rhodes led Augusta with 20 points. Maddie Livingston finished with 12 for the Orioles.
The Orioles are now 9-6 on the season and will host Buhler on Friday, Feb, 8 at 6:00 p.m.
