The third-ranked Circle Thunderbirds improved to 2-0 on Tuesday night with a 63-33 win over Independence at the T-Bird Classic at Circle High School. In the T-Birds first two games, they have proven that they belong in the conversation as one of 4A’s top teams.

On Tuesday night, the Thunderbirds trailed 3-2 in the first minute before scoring 18 straight to go up 20-3. At halftime, Circle led 38-13. Circle senior Carissa Beck, the Thunderbirds leading scorer last season, suffered a lower leg injury in the first quarter and did not return.

Circle continued to roll in the second half. The T-Bird defense continued to look dominant with the reserves on the court as they cruised to a 63-33 home victory.

Mallory Cowman led the T-Birds with 15 points. Alyson Potter added 13. Reagan Galloway came off the bench and scored 12 points.

Circle will take on Labette County on Friday, Dec. 7 and will finish the week with a matchup against Parsons on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Next week, the T-Birds will travel to Augusta on Tuesday to take on their league rival. The Orioles are currently ranked No. 5 in 4A.
