The Wildcats fell to Cheney by a score of 66-38 at home on Monday night to begin the 2018-19 season. The Cardinals came out of the gate on fire, scoring 24 points in the first quarter. El Dorado had no answer for Cheney’s Kylee Scheer, who finished the first quarter with 15 points.
The Wildcats looked much better in the second quarter, as they outscored Cheney 15-12, but still trailed 36-23 at halftime.
Cheney shut out the Wildcat’s attempt to come back early in the second half as the Cardinals dominated the third quarter and outscored the Wildcats 19-5.
Cheney hung on to a big lead throughout the fourth quarter and cruised to a 66-38 win.
Hailey Eaton led the Wildcats with 13 points. Madi Michaelis and Bailey Camien each added eight points.
On the bright side for the Wildcats, the offensive is much-improved from last year. El Dorado scored 38 points in their season-opener against Cheney. Last year, the Wildcats surpassed 38 points just four times in 23 games.
El Dorado will get a chance to pick up their first win of the season as they face Winfield at home on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
