The El Dorado boys basketball team fell to Cheney by a score of 61-32 at El Dorado High School on Friday night in the Wildcats season-opener.
Cheney came out with full-court pressure, but the Wildcats were able to hang around and trailed 12-11 at the end of the opening quarter.
El Dorado struggled at the free throw line to start the second quarter. The Wildcats made just one free throw in six attempts to start the second quarter. The Wildcats were still able to find a way to stay in the game. Back-to-back steals led to layups by Jarin Koehler, which tied the game at 14. Cheney closed the half on an 11-3 run and went into the half leading 25-17.
The Cardinals took over in the third quarter and outscored El Dorado 22-8. The Cardinals continued to control the game in the final quarter and came out with a 61-32 road victory. El Dorado’s Cameron Clausing led the team with 8 points. Jarin Koehler and Jake Johnson each added six points for the Wildcats.
