Circle swept Collegiate and Augusta on senior night to move into second place in the AVCTL-III. The Thunderbirds opened the night by beating Collegiate by scores of 25-19 and 25-15. After beating the Spartans, the T-Birds also took care of the Orioles in two sets. The Orioles had trouble receiving serves from Circle’s mallory Cowman, who finished with 16 aces on the night.

“That was quite possibly the best single-match serving performance we've ever had from a Circle player,” said Circle head coach Shelly Nibarger.

Circle took the first set by a score of 25-15, before winning the second set 25-20.

“I was extremely pleased with our competitive spirit and energy tonight,” said Nibarger.

“What a difference a week makes. There's no reason why this group can't compete at this level each and every match.”

Along with 16 ace serves, Mallory Cowman added eight kills and five blocks.

Shelby Reeder finished with 11 kills and 15 digs. Jessie Nibarger added six kills and 29 assists.

Prior to Circle’s match with Augusta, the Thunderbirds recognized their seven senior athletes and their senior manager. Alicia Banuelos, Sydney Bessent, Raegen Galloway, Jordan Hammer, Jessie Nibarger, Jaicey Perez, and Shelby Varner are the seven senior Thunderbirds, along with manager Jillian Foes, who are in their final season with the program.

We defeated Collegiate 25-19, 25-15 and Augusta 25-15, 25-20 tonight.

Circle is now 14-9, and will host a tournament at Circle High School on Saturday, Oct. 6.
