The Wellington girls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they went on to cruise to a 62-31 win over El Dorado on Friday night.

Wellington came out shooting lights out and quickly grabbed a 10-0 lead. Hailey Eaton knocked down a pair of free throws to put an end to the Wellington run, but the Crusaders remained in control and took a 18-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

El Dorado struggled at the free throw line in the second quarter, missing eight consecutive free throws at one point. This helped Wellington to continue to pull away before the half as the Crusaders led 38-18 going into the break.

The Wildcats best quarter was the third, as they finished with 10 points. Hailey Eaton collected an offensive rebound and beat the buzzer to make it 23-49 heading to the final quarter.

The Wellington defense continued to give El Dorado problems in the fourth quarter, as Wellington cruised to a 62-31 win.

El Dorado assistant coach Julie Jones took over the head coach role as Jordan Crawford was out with illness.

Hailey Eaton led the Wildcats with 10 points off the bench. Kelsi McLaren scored six.

With the loss, El Dorado falls to 1-12 and will take on Clearwater on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
