El Dorado hosted McPherson for a dual on Thursday, Feb. 1. The El Dorado senior wrestlers were honored before the meet began with a senior night ceremony. Cameron Hunt, Payton Sadowski, Kaden Clites, Jaxon Roberts, Michael Branstetter, and Colton Hancock were honored before the first match of the night. El Dorado had four open classes, which helped McPherson win the dual by a score of 47-27.

126 - Peyton Sadowski beat McPherson’s EJ Kretzer by a fall.

138 - Jaxon Robert defeated McPherson’s Brynton Crews 18-5.

182 - Kaden Clites lost a close one to Luke Thompson by a score of 6-5.

195 - Braden Morgan defeated Bailey Yarborough by technical fall.

220 - Cameron Hunt beat Kourtney Craig by a fall.

“I know the score doesn’t reflect it, but I think we wrestled great,” said El Dorado head coach Wesley Reynolds.

“When you’re giving up so many open classes and we’re giving 24 to 30 points right off the bat, it makes it tough. My kids wrestled hard. They got after it every match. Jaxon Roberts had a big win against a ranked opponent, and was pretty dominant. It’s tough every time McPherson comes.”

The Wildcats will compete at Rose Hill on Feb. 2-3, and then on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Chase County to close out the regular season.

The Wildcats will compete at the 4A regional meet in Abilene on Feb. 16-17.

“We’re right towards the end and we’re trying to hone in on what we’re doing, and be at our best for that weekend,” said Reynolds.
