Thanking community for Safehouse 2017 support
To the Editor,
The Family Life Center-Safehouse would like to thank all of the organizations that have helped the Safehouse during the year. In 2017 the Safehouse sheltered 41 women and 26 children. Our Court Advocate has helped 283 victims with protection orders. Our Teen Dating Violence Program has been presented to students in the El Dorado, Augusta, Circle, Remington, Douglass and Rose Hill High Schools with 478 students participating in the program.
The following organizations have made it possible for the clients in shelter and outreach to have a very Merry Christmas with presents for the women and children and to help the Safehouse operate throughout the year.
Towanda Methodist Church, El Dorado Downtown Kiwanis, First Christian Church Foundation Fund, First Christian Church Women’s Fellowship, El Dorado Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Kathryn Circle, Kansas Basement and Foundation, Commerce Bank, The Print Source, Westar Employees, Butler County Farm Bureau Assoc., El Dorado Correctional Facility, Butler Rural Electric, Augusta Kiwanis, Dillons, Presbyterian Women Group, Garden Gate Garden Club, St James Catholic Church, Sarah, Naomi, and Lydia Ladies Circles from the United Methodist Church, Nokomis Club, The Soroptimist Club, Cato’s, and many individual donors.
I would also like to thank those who participated in our 5th Annual No Gala, Gala fundraiser. The tragic after-math of Domestic Violence rips families apart, with this event we encouraged families to enjoy the company of each other and spend the evening together in their own home.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in our 2nd Annual Triathlon Fundraiser. We had several wonderful sponsors and everyone had a wonderful time.
A very special thank you goes to the United Methodist Church for the donation of the Safehouse, the El Dorado Charities and Trimble Trust for supporting the Safehouse throughout the years.
I would also like to thank all of the Safehouse board members for their support and dedication to the Safehouse. They are very much a part of what the Safehouse is all about, helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault become self-sufficient and lead abuse free lives for themselves and their children.
Thank you all,
Darla Carter and Safehouse Staff
