John David Stewart, 59, of El Dorado died Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. The celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 6 at the First Southern Baptist Church in El Dorado.
John was born October 4, 1961 in Sedan, Kansas, the son of Marion (Tarzan) Stewart and Luceille (Marler Keen) Stewart. John and family moved to El Dorado when he was 3 years old, and he graduated from El Dorado High School in 1979. He attended Southwest Baptist University as a Religious Studies major.
John served as a faithful mechanic for USD 259 from 1982 to 2011, ensuring school children all across the district enjoyed safe and reliable transportation to and from school. John was a dependable father to his three children, proud Papa to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and a fun-loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Surviving family include: daughter Heather Carter and husband Don Carter now of Wichita, daughter Cassandra Turner and husband William Turner of Valley Center, son Jaymes Stewart of El Dorado; sister Donna and husband Randy Booth of Kechi; brothers Bob and wife Pam Keen and Harold Stewart, both of El Dorado; grandchildren Hannah Carter, Coltyn Turner, Adilynn Turner, Angelina Turner, Grace Turner, Jayme Turner, and Kelsey Turner; great grandchildren Sedona Schultz, Cayson Bruner, Elliana Swink; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, father, mother and former wife, LaDona Crump Stewart Wege.
