El Dorado - Wendell Leon Edwards, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the age of 92. Wendell was born on July 17, 1929 in LaHarpe, Kansas to Claude and Mabel (Padgett) Edwards. After high school, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, and being a part of the Korean War. Wendell married the love of his life, Ruth Secrest. They shared a beautiful life together until her passing 1990. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and socializing around town. His favorite thing to do though was to spend time with his grandkids. Wendell was a very loving and caring son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Wendell is survived by his children, Catherine James and Glenn (Tanya) Edwards; grandchildren, Gina (Randy) Johnston, Jonathan Seifert, Ariel Maus, Amarah Goodwin, and David A. Edwards; and 11 great grandchildren.

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mabel Edwards; son, David L. Edwards; and brothers, Clyde Edwards and Claude Edwards Jr.

A visitation will take place from 5-7pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with burial to follow at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.

Memorial donations in Wendell's name can be made out to Serenity Hospice or the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado.
