Maurice "MD" Dean Shields Jr.

Wichita, KS - MD's life began on April 7, 1944, the son of Maurice Dean and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Shields in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He attended Whitewater schools. MD was a member of the Federated Church, enjoyed facts and history about Kansas, maps, puzzles and collecting miniature horse figurines.

His loving family includes his brother and his wife, Randy and Jocelyn Shields of Potwin; nephew and his wife, Taylor and Jamie Shields; niece, Lorelei Downey; great niece and her husband, Kortnei and Peter Kerby; great nephew, Josh Downey; great-great nieces, Madisyn Tillet and Pyper Kerby; great-great nephew, Bensyn Kerby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry R. Shields. MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the age of 77 years old.

His family will gather with friends on Thursday, July 1, from 6-8 p.m. at Federated Church, 207 E. Central, Whitewater, Kansas. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. in the Whitewater Cemetery.
