Rahal, Patricia Ann (Malcom), 90, passed away at home on July 13, 2020. Pat was born at home in Andover, Kansas on October 28, 1929 during the Great Depression. She was the 5th child and first girl of Lee and Edith Malcom. She has four brothers Dick, Bob, Max and Charles and baby sister Virginia (Bontz). Growing up she and her siblings spent their youth helping their Dad at his business, Malcom Garage which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. She graduated from Andover High School in 1947.

In 1952, while working at Bell Telephone Company in Wichita, KS, Pat processed the employment application of a handsome young man, Larry Rahal. It was love at first sight. Their love story has continued for 68 years. Pat and Larry have three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Larry’s employment took them to Ohio, California, Texas and Kansas with Pat always creating a pleasant home for the family. The past 26 years, Larry and Pat have wintered in Mesa, AZ where they developed life-long friendships.

Pat was a homemaker who did it all. She made all of the kids clothes, took care of the home, walked the kids to school, helped them with homework, took care of the menagerie of pets, solved sibling disputes, etc. When not being a family mediator, Pat exercised her creative gene. She made art of all kinds but the two that stand out are the dolls and the quilts she made. Pat loved fabric. She enjoyed collecting fabric as much as she did making things out of fabric. She was particularly good at making quilts and understanding the mechanics of how to efficiently piece it together. She taught her daughters and granddaughters to sew. Her love of fabric lives on through each of them. Pat also assisted Larry and Barney in their banner tow business by being the official "letter repairer". She was integral in keeping the letters intact so the boys could fly the messages spelled correctly.

Pat was preceded in death by: her beloved parents, Lee and Edith (Allred) Malcom; brothers Dick Malcom and Bob Malcom; sisters-in-law; Joye Malcom (Dick), Helen Malcom (Bob), Iris Malcom (Max), and Alverna Malcom (Charles); son-in-law Richard Corkins (Nancy).
