Marion Joseph “Cutty” Cutler, of Towanda, KS passed away with family by his side outside of Augusta, KS after a courageous battle with cancer on April 17, 2020, he was only 48 years old.


Cutty was born April 2, 1972 and was adopted April 3, 1972 by the late Raymond James Cutler and Clovis Ruth Cutler (Jack) of Bartlesville, OK. Cutty graduated from Caney Valley High, Caney, KS in 1990. In addition, he attended two semesters at Independence Community College. On July 22, 1991 and June 3, 1994, he was blessed with having two daughters, Tamara and Brittany.


Cutty began his correctional officer career with Wilson County Sheriff Department in 2003 before moving to El Dorado in 2007 where he was employed by the El Dorado Correctional Facility and Pizza Hut. He was a simple, loving and caring man who never meet a stranger and was loved by many. Cutty’s sense of humor would either make you smile or bust out laughing, whether you wanted to or not. Cutty had a love for the Oklahoma Sooners, St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, and playing softball. If he wasn’t watching OU football, he was either on a softball field or found down by the river fishing.


Cutty is survived by his fiancÚ Tara Hart of Atlanta, KS, daughters: Tamara M. McCleary (Josh) of Pittsburg, KS, and Brittany Cutler of Joplin, MO. One grandson: Kane McCleary. Brothers: Mike Cutler of Bartlesville, OK and Alex Cook (Angelena) of Augusta, KS. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews along with his extended Softball family.


He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a brother.
