Former El Dorado resident, Gayle N. Estes, 84, died of flu complications on March 17, 2020, in Whitewater, Kansas.


Gayle was born on February 16, 1936, in Eureka, KS. to parents Orville and Lillian (Whitt) Estes. He graduated from Wichita East High School. Gayle was a member of the National Guard for six years and went on to work at KG&E/Westar Energy for 36 years before retirement. In his spare time, Gayle was a member of the Midian Shrine and Founding Member and 1st Chief of the Keystone Kops in Wichita, KS.


Mr. Estes is survived by his brother, Pete (Dorothy) Estes of Derby, KS., two sons and their spouses, Chad (Mindi) Estes, of Yates Center, KS; Lance (Andrea) Estes of Benton, KS.; two grandchildren, Daryean (Brent) Torrens of Emporia, Ks. and Drey Estes of Pittsburg, KS.; and three great grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Lillian, and sister, Berna Dean (Barker) of Virginia.


Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.
