Anna “Margaret” Doornbos, 100, El Dorado, was born on December 19, 1918 in Pontiac, Kansas; the daughter of Herbert Almer and Anna Pearl (Hanger) Haines.
She was an El Dorado High School graduate, class of 1936 and later went on to achieve her associates degree from Salt City Business College in 1940. She taught in Brownlow and other rural Kansas schools.
On February 14, 1941, Margaret married Robert Curston Doornbos in Arkansas City, Kansas. She enjoyed gardening, sewing clothes, china painting and was a lifetime member of Rosie the Riveter.
Her loving family includes her son, Dennis (Christine) Doornbos of Augusta; daughter, Teresa (Marc) Bachman of El Dorado; daughter in law, Linda Doornbos of Leon and five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Margaret passed away on September 8, 2019 in El Dorado and is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Gary; brothers, Van Haines and Cletus Haines and sisters, Gladys Haines, Vivian Haines and Vernice Haines.
Her family and friends may gather at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at the Carlson Colonial Chapel where her memorial service will follow at 4 pm.; burial in Blankinship Cemetery will take place at a later date.
