Billy Martin Dickson, 89, passed away on July 29, 2019, in his home in Gilbert, Arizona after a long battle with cancer.
He was born to parents Ethel May Viers and George McCourter Dickson, on January 10, 1930, in Fort Dodge, Kansas. The family moved to El Dorado, Kansas when Bill was still a young boy in grade school.
Bill served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Both before and after his military service he was an entrepreneur, owning and running several business and investments ventures both in Kansas and later in California where he moved in 1971. Bill also worked in the aerospace industry at Northrop Grumman including work on the Boeing 747.
For those that knew him, Bill had an upbeat, welcoming and caring personality which earned him a reputation as someone you could look to for advice or help and he was one that could always make you smile. He loved his family and friends and always did anything he could for them.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lou Dickson, and his son Richard Divine and daughter Kristy Thompson, also his daughter-in-law Mona Divine and son-in-law Scot Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Memorial service will be at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or American Cancer Society.
