Deloris J. Cary, 85, passed away on Dec. 2, 2018

Deloris Jean (Rice) Cary, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, El Dorado.  Private family burial will follow in the Hesston Cemetery, Hesston, Kan.
Deloris was born on Jan. 31, 1933, the daughter of Ilie Lonzo and Mary Francis (Summers) Rice in Chelsea, Okla. She graduated from high school with the class of 1950, in Springfield, Mo. She married John W Cary lll  in 1979 in Wichita.
Deloris worked at the Towanda State Bank and Walnut Valley Bank as a teller and later at Wilbur’s Grocery in Towanda as a checker. She enjoyed her family and cooking for them. She had a caring heart and worked with special needs children in Newton, and was a caregiver to her sister-in-law. She was also an avid reader.
Her loving family includes: her children, Gary (Shauna) Long of Wichita, Jo Ann Thaden of Wichita, Betty (Troy) Norris of El Dorado, and John (Nancy) Long of Wamego; 7 grandchildren, Austin (Cassie) Long, Kyle Long, Chelsea (Joseph) Mayans, Nick Norris, Tyler Norris, Hannah Long and Levi Long; 1 great-grandson, Luke Long.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 2010; brother, Linn Rice and a sister, Mary Ann Phipps.
