Rovilla R. Kerns, 94, passed away on June 12, 2016

Rovilla R. Kerns, 94, of El Dorado, passed away with her family by her side on June 12, 2016, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.  
Visitation 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 17, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado.  Funeral service at 10:30 am. on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the First Christian Church of El Dorado, with Pastor Stan Seymour officiating.    Burial will be at Sunset Lawns Cemtery, El Dorado.
Rovilla was born Dec. 25, 1921, at Leroy, Kan., to Benjamin Cregg and Stella Gertrude (Fryer) Hill.  She graduated from high school at Burlington in 1939.  Rovilla worked for Boeing during World War II, attended business college in Wichita and worked for Fireman’s Fund Insurance, Traveler’s Insurance and Metal Fab, Inc.
She was married to Floyd A. Beardsley on March 17, 1940.  They were the owner-operators of Dairy Queen stores, their first being in Greeley, Colo. in 1950.  In 1966, they moved to El Dorado where they bought the El Dorado Dairy Queen.  Rovilla continued to operate the store after Floyd’s death in 1974, until she sold the Dairy Queen in the fall of 1980, having been in the Dairy Queen business for 30 years.
On Jan. 18, 1981, Rovilla married Clarence H. Kerns in El Dorado.  They honeymooned in Hawaii with the El Dorado Travel Club, enjoying many trips.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Lydia Circle.  She also was a member of Circle One at the First Christian Church, the Victory Class, and served as co-chairwoman of both circles.  She was a member of the Andrina Chapter #93 of the Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Daughters of the American Revolution.  Rovilla served as Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Regent of the Daughter of the American Revolution.  
Her loving family includes: her son, Floyd A. “Jim” and wife Allison Beardsley; stepson, Maynard and wife Diane Kerns; sister, Eva Stern; brother-in-law, Charles (Joyce) Beardsley; grandchildren, Shelly (Thomas) Beardsley-Linke, Brad Beardsley, Jeff Beardsley, Rovilla Sue Beardsley-Guyman, Jackie G. Beardsley, Mark (Bev) Beardsley, Joey Beardsley, Angie Beardsley-Hernandez, Theresa (Walter) Hartwig, David Beardsley, Kim Marez, Scott (Kendra) Beardsley, Kelly (Keith) Vierling, Ben (Janet) Lippard, Justin (Megan) Lippard, Jonathan Lippard, Christina Kerns, Kyle Kerns; and many great and great-great grandchildren.  
She was preceded in death by both husbands; her son Jackie Beardsley;  sisters, Louise (Lester) Dilts, and Irene (Lawrence) Winn; brother-in-law, Richard Steven; one granddaughter, Roxanne; and daughter-in-law, Linda Beardsley.
