Crawford sheriff’s office starts delivery program

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office started a delivery program Friday to help people who are elderly, handicapped and high-risk individuals for COVID-19.

Crawford County Sheriff Danny Smith presented the program to the Crawford County commissioners on Friday. The Sheriff’s Office is basing this program on Bourbon County’s, where essential food items, prescriptions and medical supplies are picked up by the deputies.

Smith said the Sheriff’s Office has the resources to assist these people right now because school resource officers are out of school and there are extra deputies on patrol.

“We just want to get the word out there, if there is somebody who needs us to pick up, milk or bread or prescriptions they need picked up — if their pharmacy will allow it — we will absolutely pick those items up and deliver it to them,” he said.
