Two potential cases of the new coronavirus were being investigated as of 4:30 p.m. Friday in Kansas, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported on its website.
Eleven previous people under investigation have tested negative for COVID-19, the KDHE said. No coronavirus cases have been detected in Kansas.
The KDHE was not releasing any further information about the cases being investigated.
KDHE Secretary Lee Norman had said Wednesday that it was only a matter of time before the coronavirus would be confirmed in Kansas.
That virus has killed more than 3,400 people and emerged in more than 90 countries since first being detected in China.
