A Kansas Department of Transportation project that mills rumble strips into the pavement on K-196, from the Harvey/Butler county line to the junction with K-254, will occur this week. The contractor started on I-235 in Wichita on Monday and will move their operation to K-196 after completing I-235.

Several miles of a K-196 lane will be closed and traffic will be escorted through the work zone with flaggers and a pilot car. As an area is completed, the work zone will be moved. The rumble strips will be installed on both directions of K-196. If weather conditions do not interfere with the project’s progress, the work should be finished in one or two days.

Surface Preparation Technologies, Inc. is the primary contractor on the project.
