Deadly crash on K-196

A head-on collision took the life of one person and a dozen cattle were killed just before midnight Monday on K-196 near Potwin.
A spokesperson with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office stated that a passenger car and a semi truck hauling cattle hit head-on when one of the vehicles crossed the center line.
The driver of the car was killed and the truck driver was not injured.  The crash is currently under investigation.
Approximately 50 cattle were reported to have been in the trailer at the time of the crash and a dozen perished.  Others were trapped inside the semi or were wandering around the area.
The road in that area was closed throughout the early morning hours and will remain closed until the cattle are rounded up and vehicles removed from the scene.
