Tragic accident Wednesday morning
Butler County Deputies, Butler County EMS, Rose Hill Fire, and Rose Hill Police were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. yesterday to the report of an injury accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at 330 W. Rosewood Street, Rose Hill.
Upon arrival of emergency services, a 38 year old white male later identified as Stephen Farmer, a Sedgwick County resident, was discovered on the ground behind a truck with a flatbed trailer attached. The trailer was loaded with a skid steer.
It was determined the driver of the truck (32 year old white male, Sedgwick County resident) pulling the trailer was turning around in the parking lot of the above address to leave the property. The deceased, was standing near the trailer. The trailer struck him causing him to fall to the ground. He was subsequently run over by the right rear tires of the trailer. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Butler County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrived on scene to process / assess the situation. It was determined to be an unfortunate accident. Criminal charges are not, at this time, being pursued.
Mr. Farmer’s family has been notified of this tragedy.
