Law enforcement investigates and make an arrest
Augusta law enforcement responded to a social media threat that was posted on Wednesday and made an arrest late Thursday. Many parents, who learned of the threat through the school district's text program, kept their students at home yesterday. Police presence was increased at all local schools on Thursday.
Captain Bruce Relph advised the Butler County Times-Gazette this morning that the issue had been resolved rather quickly, but definitely warranted extensive investigation.
"The person has been identified. There was absolutely no threat, but a 'sick joke'," Relph added, "Parents need to be thoughtful and pay attention and monitor their kids' on-line usage."
