For two special friends who loved music
The earthly, music-enjoying souls of Shirley Pittman and Dirk Benson were inseparable and so close that they (and theirs) were considered family.
Shirley was a former El Doradoan and the wife of the late Jack Pittman. Dirk, who had developmental disabilities, was the son of Neil Benson and the late Page Benson.
Dirk and Shirley had a special friendship, which included an appreciation of music.
Now they are eternally together. Shirley passed away on Aug. 6, 2018, and Dirk in 1982.
The combined families left behind want to make sure that Dirk and Shirley can hear the music they brought to this earth.
Shirley helped found the El Dorado Methodist Church Handbell Choir. Its bells are now in need of repair. The Benson family and the Pittman family have made an initial contribution toward a repair effort, as a memorial to Shirley, her friendship with Dirk, and their love of music.
Others wanting to make contributions for bell repair may do so by making donations to the First United Methodist Church , 421 W. Central Ave., El Dorado, KS 67042, Attn: Handbell Choir.
