JAMES C. “JIM” CUMMINGS

James C. “Jim” Cummings, 88, of Augusta, KS passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in Wichita, KS. Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 at First Christian Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Jim was born in Nashville, KS on March 23, 1935, to the late Osa B. (Sapp) and James Richard Cummings. He began work at Augusta police, fire and EMS departments and retired from the Butler County Sheriff’s department. Jim was a member and elder at the First Christian Church in Augusta. In July of 1975 he married Vickey L. (Taylor) Dutton Cummings in Augusta, KS who survives him. He is also survived by: daughters, Jamie Cummings (Ones Mutinda) of Andover, KS, Leann Boucher (Ron Wenrich) of Wichita, KS, Kelly Shelton (Charles) of Shell Knob, MO, Rebecca Cryderman of Augusta, KS, and Michelle Davis (Tim) of Augusta, KS; grandchildren, Bevan Boucher, Cassie Boucher, Jasmyn Carr (Tammy), Michael Kelly, Ryan Cryderman, Justin Cryderman (Stephanie), Kioko Mutinda, Annabelle Mutinda, Chuck Shelton, Charli Shelton, Joshua Shelton, Megan Pressnell (Curtis), Melanie Frost (Kevin), Monica Claycamp (Ryan), and Morgan Lakey (Mike); 21 great grandchildren; sister, Dora Smith of Kinsley, KS. He was preceded in death by his son in law, Paul Cryderman; granddaughters, Erica Boucher and Elizabeth Shelton; great grandson, Jordan Davis; and sister, Tressa Roberts. MARK DEWAYNE TELFER

Mark Dewayne Telfer, 89, passed away March 24, 2023 at his home in El Dorado, KS. He was born October 27, 1933 in Emporia, KS. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1951 and served two years in the army in Korea. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College in 1962 and taught high school mathematics at Hamilton, Washington, and Towanda Kansas. After retirement he enjoyed reading and working on his cars. He and his first wife Imelda were divorced. Later he married Paula Wilkerson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Paula, a daughter Linda Telfer and a son Shawn Telfer. Mark is survived by one sister, Deloris Windes (Dennis) of Richardson, TX. Two brothers, Ronald Telfer (Eileen) of Newton, KS. And Jim Telfer (Janet) of Emporia, KS. And three grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at West Side Baptist Church, Emporia, KS. At 2:00 pm on April 14, 2023. Interment will be in Reading cemetery, Reading, KS. Michael J Peters, 60, of Harrisonville, MO went home to our Heavenly Father on the morning of Friday, March 24, 2023, in his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville.
