Robert Joe McCalla, 85, of Augusta, KS, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. Visitation from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta with graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Robert was born in Augusta, KS on April 4, 1938, to the late Norma (Stinnett) Haigler and Jesse Alvin McCalla. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years. He was a TCC Operator at Mobil Refinery and had also been contract hauler for the Wichita Eagle. Robert also owned Buy and Sell in Augusta and later White Eagle Antique Mall. He was an avid WSU Shocker fan. On September 18, 1960 he married Beverly (Pippin) McCalla in Augusta, KS who survives him. He is also survived by: son, Robert Dale McCalla; grandson, Robert Paul McCalla; great grandchildren, Kristina Renee, Alyssa Nicole, and Robert James “JB” McCalla; great great grandchild, Evelyn May and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, James L. McCalla; sister,

Dianna (Dean) Demo age 69 of El Dorado passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2023, at Susan B Allen Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 2, 1954, in Fort Riley, Ks to Don & Donna Demo. Dianna is survived by her children Shawn Dean (Andrea Kern) Of El Dorado and Shelbi Nigh (Dean) of El Dorado. Seven grandchildren- Zekiah and Zavien Kern, Hayden and Hudson Dean, Hannah and Donoven Scott and Matthias Nigh. Her mother Donna Demo of Independence KS. Her siblings Dan (Joyce) Demo of El Dorado, Drew (Janet) Demo of Independence, Dalinda (Craig) Hamilton of El Dorado. She was blessed with a big family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ada Jean Wege Soden, age 82, passed away April 19, 2023. She was born near Westmoreland, Kansas on September 12th, 1940 one of the twin daughters of Herbert and Agnes (Aubert) Wege. She married Jack C. Soden while still in High School. They were married 55 years until his death in 2012. Ada’s door was always open. She loved cooking for everyone and was known for making and mailing cookie care packages. Her children and grandchildren fondly remember her chicken and noodles and the wide variety of Christmas candies she created. Ada had a reputation for making tacos for large gatherings. She graduated Order of the Purple at Butler County Community College nursing program. Ada worked at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital and as a Director of Nursing for a few nursing facilities in the area. Ada is survived by her children: Jack D. Soden (Mary Ellen) and Janet Lynch (John), nine grandchildren: Andrew (Karen) Anderson, Stephanie (Jay) Hobson, Adam Anderson, Emily, (John) Hayes, Faith (Eli) Yewdall, Justin Lynch, Caitlin (Nick) Morrow and Kristin Lynch (Jon Wright); and five great grandchildren: Ondrea and Matthew Hobson, Ziya and Ada Yewdall and Alexis Morrow. She also leaves brothers Lynn Wege and Jr. (Shirley) Wege and sisters Barbara Boese and Mary (Ernest) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack C. her parents Herbert and Agnes Wege, her twin sister Ida Shadoin-Spear, and grandson Christopher Soden. Memorial will be to Butler County Community College nursing program. Services will be Friday, April 28th at 2 pm at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home at 224 W. Ash in El Dorado.
