ANDOVER, Kansas — There aren’t many times a sophomore is put into a position to knock off a rival on their home field, let alone win the game in overtime. On Thursday night in the annual Andover derby—pronounced DAHR-B and is a soccer term for a rivalry game—sophomore Karlyn Wilson said the easy part was taking the shot.
WICHITA – Wichita Collegiate began the season 0-3, including being outscored 19-2 in its first two games. But that team is quickly becoming a distant memory.
El Dorado, Kansas — If you showed up for some softball at East Park on Monday night, you were in for a treat in the softball version of the battle on 254. El Dorado provided a walk-off double in extra innings from senior Gibby Baker as El Dorado beat Circle for the first time since 2015.
EL DORADO – The schools may be in different AVCTL divisions, but not even that can overshadow years of rivalry between Circle and El Dorado. The last time the two teams met, in last year’s Class 4A playoffs, the Wildcats won at Circle, 5-2, avenging a T-Birds regular-season doubleheader sweep.
The match between two of the best schools in Class 5A lived up to expectations.
