Sporting KC hires new Director of Ops

Sporting Kansas City has appointed Mike Burns as the club’s new Sporting Director, the organization announced today.Burns, who previously served as General Manager of the New England Revolution, will oversee Sporting’s player recruitment and roster building strategy and the continued development of the club’s professional player pathway, including MLS NEXT Pro team Sporting Kansas City II and the Sporting Kansas City Academy.

Leibold and Afrifa goals propel Sporting to 2-0 win over Austin FC

Sporting Kansas City (4-12-5, 17 points) scored goals in both halves to secure a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Austin FC (7-8-6, 27 points) on Saturday at sold-out Children’s Mercy Park.Left back Tim Leibold opened his MLS scoring account in the 26th minute and forward Stephen Afrifa came off the bench to seal the win with a 69th-minute strike as Sporting posted its first MLS shutout since March 9 and held Austin to zero shots on target, marking the 15th time in club regular season history that a Kansas City opponent has failed to put a shot on goal.Navigating a stretch of seven games in 22 days, Sporting will return to action Thursday for a visit to the Colorado Rapids at 8:30 p.m.

Kansas State basketball new Big 12 coneference opponents announced

The Big 12 announced the Conference scheduling matrix for the 2024-25 Women’s Basketball season, as K-State will face traditional rivals Iowa State and Kansas twice and Cincinnati twice as part of its league slate.Teams will play three Big 12 opponents twice, then play the other 12 conference opponents one time, for a total of 18 Conference games.Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.
