AUGUSTA – As the baseball season winds down and teams are vying for sub-state seeds and a potential home playoff opener, every game this time of year looms large. For Class 4A contenders Augusta and Circle, Friday’s doubleheader was so important that Circle agreed to play the games at Augusta just to get it in, with the Orioles designated the visitors on Circle’s Senior Night.
For Circle and Augusta, it was a tale of two games, each showcased why these two schools probably want to be avoided come postseason time.
WICHITA – The flooded outfield at McDonald Stadium forced a change of venue for the Rose Hill-El Dorado baseball doubleheader. So, the Rockets and Wildcats played their twin bill on a very large stage – Wichita State’s Eck Stadium.
Four of Kansas City’s professional sports franchises have announced a joint effort to help victims of the devastating tornado that ripped through Andover, Kansas last week. “On behalf of the Sporting Kansas City family, our thoughts are with all of the people and businesses affected by the tornado in Andover,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid.
On Saturday afternoon, the Butler softball team etched their name into the history books as they won their 11th straight Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship as they defeated Garden City 25-6 and 9-0 at East Park in El Dorado.
