All of the Butler County Ark Valley schools were in action on a gorgeous Friday night in their last regular season meet before regionals and the always exciting state meet at Wichita State. Andover Central was the belle of the ball, winning their league and most teams were really competitive.
The Butler Grizzlies are heading back to the NJCAA softball national tournament after an impressive Plains District Championship series win over McCook Community College this weekend. Butler beat McCook in the best-of-3 series, 12-0 and 5-2 to advance to Yuma, Arizona in about 10 days.

DODGE CITY, Kansas — The Butler Grizzlies softball team made quick work of the rest of the KJCCC this weekend. They outscored their four opponents, 38-3; run-ruled opponents in three of the four games and allowed allowed two earned runs. All this led up to Sunday’s 7-2 win over Seward County in the Region VI Championship game.
WICHITA — For Circle and Augusta, it was a tale of two games, each showcased why these two schools probably want to be avoided come postseason time. For Augusta, a 13-9 win in Game 1 behind their bats showed they could keep up with most in Class 4A. Then, in Game 2, the Circle defense locked down behind freshman pitcher Harlee Fowler for the 6-1 win.
