Linda Marie Weaver

Linda Marie Weaver, of Augusta, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the age of 74. Linda was born on October 14, 1947 in Neodesha, Kansas to Thomas and Flossie (Nichols) Weaver. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education in Pittsburg which she used to become a Special Education teacher for 28 years. After retiring from teaching, she went on to work for St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was a member of KNEA, GCEA, Special Olympics, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Park Avenue Baptist Church (formerly Grace Baptist Church) in El Dorado, Kansas. The Special Olympics were very dear to her heart. She spent a lot of her time coaching and training the kids for Special Olympics and taking them around to various state competitions. Linda was very active in her community. She was one of the Pink Ladies for Susan B Allen hospital, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and taught a Back to Balance class with the home health clinic.

Joyce Marie (Taylor) Pippig

Joyce Marie (Taylor) Pippig was born on January 12, 1933, in Oil Hill, Kansas, the third of four children to Ira C. and Nellie (Richardson) Taylor. She passed away at Homestead Assisted Living El Dorado on November 29, 2021, with family present. Joyce lived in the El Dorado area all her life. In Oil Hill, she and her brothers enjoyed playing outside and entertained themselves with games of softball and kick the can. She attended Oil Hill School where she was involved in basketball, track and softball. At El Dorado High School, she was a member of the Pep Club and graduated in 1951. On April 9, 1953, Joyce married Gerald E. (Jerry) Pippig at the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado. They were married nearly 68 years before Jerry passed away on March 21, 2021. Joyce was a retired bookkeeper and receptionist, and she also assisted Jerry in their business, Fulmer Studio of El Dorado, for many years. She attended the First Christian Church of El Dorado and was a member of the Red Hat Kickers for 18 years. She especially enjoyed the Kickers’ Style Show and the fun part she played in the show. Joyce and Jerry enjoyed traveling the country and spending time with good friends. They tried to take a trip at least once a year to visit state and national parks where they enjoyed hiking. Joyce’s favorite place was Yosemite, but she also enjoyed Yellowstone, the Smoky Mountains, the Texas coast, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Osage Hills State Park in Oklahoma. Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was always up for good fun and laughs with friends and family. When things would get a little hectic, her favorite phrase would be “Oh, what a rat race!” which could always get a giggle from her kids and grandkids. Joyce is survived by two daughters, Sandra Blackburn (Rod) and Karen McLaughlin (Troy), and a son, Michael Pippig (Jan) all of El Dorado. Surviving grandchildren include Danny Konert, Ryan Pippig (Halie), Addison McLaughlin, Derek Pippig, Skylar Blackburn, Rachel McLaughlin and three great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Clifford, Leland and Larry Taylor, and a son-in-law, Larry Konert. Joyce requested no public service. Shelby J. Osborne

EL DORADO - Shelby’s life began on April 16, 1959 in Wichita, KS; the daughter of Eugene and Sharon Christian. She worked hard for her family as a waitress for over 30 years and most recently was the store manager for Casey’s in El Dorado. She loved to crochet and watch her list of shows on TV. Shelby enjoyed dancing and playing pool, loved her dogs and above all loved cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family which includes her children James (Ashley) Obsorne of Eureka, Allison (Jonathan Ortiz) Osborne of Wichita, Brittani (Talon) Reust of Leon, Chelsea (Ryan) Waller Osborne of El Dorado, Stephanie (Fred Moore) Osborne of El Dorado, Joshua Osborne of El Dorado and Jeremy (Susan) Osborne of Wichita; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and sister Cynthia Taylor of El Dorado. Shelby passed away on November 23, 2021 in Overland Park. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Raymond Christian. Friends may gather with the family from 2-4pm on Sunday, November 28 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home in El Dorado. AUGUSTA - Geneva Louise Edwards, 74, of Augusta, KS, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Andover. Geneva was born in El Dorado, Kansas on August 9, 1947, to the late Alberta (Wilson) and Walter Keith. She worked as a laundry aide and custodian in hospitals most of her life. Simon Wright Jr.

TOWANDA - Simon’s life began on July 20, 1927 in Greenwich, KS; the son of Simon and Cleda (Butler) Wright. He was united in marriage to Helen Hoskins on January 27, 1947 in El Dorado. Simon worked hard for his family, farming and later working as a heavy equipment operator for many years. Simon enjoyed working with his hands and loved to create. He could build just about anything out of wood or metal, whether it was furniture or fencing or anything you could think of. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife, Helen of El Dorado; children Cheryl (Bill) Wright of Moorecroft, Wyoming, Mike (Kim) Wright of Towanda, Teresa “Sue” (John) Greep of Hutchinson and Chuck (Patricia) Wright of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Simon passed away on November 21, 2021 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers. Ivan “Ike” McKittrick

TOWANDA - Ivan L. “Ike” McKittrick, 78, of Towanda, KS, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in Wichita. Visitation Tuesday 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Generations Church, 425 Greenvalley Dr. Andover, KS. Burial will follow at Turon Cemetery, Turon, KS. Ivan was born in Madison, Wisconsin on November 21, 1943, to the late Bertha May (Witham) and Bernard James McKittrick. He worked in transportation most of his life driving trucks and owned his own pilot car service, Bluebird Pilot Car for the past 10 years. On Feb. 11, 2012 he married Jeanette Daniel in Augusta, KS and she survives him. He is also survived by: son, Ivan Bernard McKittrick and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, NC; daughter, Rhonda McKittrick of Baraboo, WI; step sons, Ed Daniel and wife Connie of Rose Hill, KS; Randy Daniel and wife Margaret of Towanda, KS; Tracy Daniel and wife Cindy of Wellington, KS; and Kent Daniel of Pittsburg, KS; step daughter, Tisha Maydew and husband Barry of Park City, KS; brothers, James McKittrick, of Arkansas; Richard McKittrick, and Bill McKittrick all of Baraboo, WI; sisters, Barbara Harmon and husband Richard, Carol Decker, and Kathy Weiss of Baraboo, WI; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl McKittrick and a sister, Joan Nicoli. Melissa Lakin

LEON - Melissa Sue Lakin was born on March 2, 1969 in El Dorado, KS to the late Linda (Haury) and Larry Lago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren. On January 27, 1995 she married her best friend, William Lakin, Jr. in Leon and he survives. She is also survived by: children, Kasondra Divine and husband Ryan, Trent Worrell, Payton Lakin and Dalton Lakin all of Leon; sister, Michelle Tuschhoff and husband Raymond of Augusta; brothers, Brian Lago and wife Camille of Whitewater and Barry Lago and Jennifer of Meade, CO; 14 grandchildren, Gavin, Keyauna, Samiya, JD, Brennin, Kierian, Aiden, Isabelle,, Austin, Rylee, Automn, Baylor, Cayton, and Dahkya; 12 nephews, 6 nieces, and 23 great nieces and nephews, mother and father-in-law, Donna and Ron Maddux of Wichita; sister-in-law, Sherry (Todd) Kingsley of Leon and a brother-in-law, Don Lakin of Leon.
