Cleora Anderson

WICHITA - Cleora E. Anderson, 93, of Wichita, KS, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas. Graveside service 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the Ohio Street entrance. Cleora was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 7, 1928, to the late Leota Fontella (Haywood) Hammond and Leo Martin McFadden. She was a homemaker and also did volunteer work at Lincoln Elementary School, helping children with reading. Cleora was a member of EHU, Sorosis Club, and a member of the Loyal Heirs Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Augusta. On June 5, 1949, she married Lester L. Anderson at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita. They were married for 60 years before he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Phyllis Hammond and Venita Gregory. Cleora is survived by: sons, L. Leroy Anderson, Jr. and wife June of San Antonio, Tex.; Chris A. Anderson and wife Nancy of Wichita; and Eric E. Anderson and wife Penny of Wichita; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mary Suzanne Landwehr Johnson

Ma r y Suzanne Landwehr Johnson, 81, passed away December 4, 2021. “Sue” was born in Wichita and attended Wichita State University. She is survived by her brother, Michael Landwehr; daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Stanley Crocker; daughter Lisa, son-in-law Ron Doyle, and grandchildren Madeleine and Lila; son Andrew, daughter-inlaw Tamara, and grandchildren Easton, Aria, and Annabelle. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Daryl Eugene Johnson; son Patrick; parents Ernest and Kathryn Landwehr; and sister Patricia Robertson. Donald Gene Chase

COLUMBIA - Donald Gene Chase, known to many as Poppy, passed away at 85 years old on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Don grew up in Oil Hill, Kansas, where he met his bride, Marilyn, of 65 years. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1954 and Butler County Junior College in 1956. They were blessed with three children, Kandi, Randy and Angie.

Jeannie Mae Moore

EL DORADO - Jeannie Mae Moore, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the age of 74. Jeannie was born on March 13, 1947 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Jim and Dorothy (Church) Thomas. She met and married her first love, Vernon Moore. They built a beautiful life together raising their children. After Vernon’s passing, Jeannie was lucky to find love again in Jerry Call. She loved her career as a cosmetologist. She was also a true farm girl. She loved to ride horses, and was even a member of the saddle club for several years. Jeannie also loved being a mom and grandma, and in her later years she loved being a dog mom.

Robert “Bob” Wendell Flattery

LEON - Robert “Bob” Wendell Flattery, of Leon, Kansas, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the age of 95. Bob was born on April 3, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas to James and Rose (Houser) Flattery. Bob worked hard on his family’s farm during his childhood, especially spending time herding the cows to the Johnnie Mack Bridge. He began working for Boeing, installing fuel cells in the wings of B52 Bombers. Bob then went on to serve his country very proudly during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He enlisted in 1944 after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He completed his basic training in North Carolina and served in France during the war. He was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupational Medal. In 1947 he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Sphar. Together Bob and Dorothy had two children, who they loved raising together. He spent a few years working at Coleman and then Beechcraft, and went on to become a surveyor for the Soil Conservation District, retiring from government service in the early 1990’s. When he wasn’t working, defending his country, or spending time with his family, Bob enjoyed gardening and really loved to work on vehicles.
