Donna Jean Gulick was born on August 6, 1956 in Reece, Kansas; the daughter of Cecil and Mary (Ehrlich) Drake. Donna married Larry Smith and had two daughters, Nikki and Michelle. Later on in life, Donna married Chris Gulick. While married to Chris, Donna liked to go hunting and fishing. She was a great home maker and could always be found cooking, cleaning or taking care of those she loved. Her greatest joy in life was her family which includes, her daughters, Nikki Smith and Michelle Peterson of El Dorado; Five Grandchildren; Two Great Grandchildren; and Siblings, Beverly Smith, Randy Drake, Phil Drake, Joe Drake, Diana DeBrou and Karen Clay. Donna passed away on January 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mary; husband, Chris Gulick; and a brother, Curtis Drake. Cremation has taken place and her family is planning a private dinner to remember her life well lived. Memorial contributions can be made out to COPD Foundation or Kansas Humane Society. Gene Emerson Manning went home to the Lord on January 27, 2022 at the age of 88. Gene was born on February 13, 1933 in Peabody, Kansas, the son of Raymond (Mike) and Myrtle (Senior) Manning. He attended Hamilton and East high schools in Wichita, and graduated from Emporia Kansas State Teachers College in 1962. He began working for Beech Aircraft in 1963 and retired from there in 1992. Gene was a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite, and the Masons and served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as a radio operator. He was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado, On May 9, 1954, he married Mary Ann (Dyer) Manning.
Jimmie “Jim” Boone, of El Dorado, Kansas passed peacefully in his home with loving family by his side on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the age of 83. Viewing and visitation with family will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Carlson’s Funeral Home in El Dorado, Kansas. Funeral service will also be held at Carlson’s on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at 2:30 PM. The burial will take place at a later date at Sunset Lawns Cemetery with family.
EL DORADO - Janet’s life began on October 19, 1941 in Washington, Kansas; the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Skyllberg) Regnier. Janet was married to Gary Nagel. She worked hard for her family keeping her home and enjoyed watching her television shows—keeping up with her soap operas, game shows and Westerns. In younger times, Janet enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors with family and friends. Her family includes her son Ron Nagel of El Dorado; grandchildren Destiny Williams and Hunter Nagel of El Dorado; siblings Barbara Shay and Larry Regnier and several nieces and nephews. Janet passed away on January 16, 2022 in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, brother Rick Regnier and sister Sharon Chilton. EL DORADO - Donald “Don” Grunder, of El Dorado, KS passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the age 85. Donald was born on May 16, 1936 in Wichita, KS to William and Thelma (Orr) Grunder. Don graduated from Cassoday High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Tonnie Martin, on August 14, 1978 in Miami, Oklahoma. He was proud to be a member of Local Union 5-241. He was a unit operator and pipe fitter for the El Dorado Refinery and retired in 1994 at the age of 58. Don and Tonnie loved to dance and were members of the Chelsea Swinging Square. They loved to travel south to Texas for the winters and were known as“winter Texans”. Don also owned the Hawaiian Inn with his friend Bob Petty in the 1970’s. He loved watching his son and grandchildren grow, and especially loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities.
AUGUSTA - Carolyn Sue Anderson, 75, of Augusta, KS, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Wichita. Memorial gathering 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Carolyn was born in Ada, OK on August 11, 1946, to the late Miskell Wyoma (Lamb) and Wilford Millard Anderson. She retired as an inspector at Boeing. Carolyn had no relatives, but she is survived by those she considered as her daughters, Amy Morton, Ashley Mattingly, and Michayla K.
