Virgil Carl Hogoboom Jr. II (Junior), 80, El Dorado, Kansas was born May 18, 1941 to Virgil Sr and Mary (Cundell) Hogoboom, but was raised by Virgil Sr and Sarah Faye Hogoboom (which Virgil considered his mother). Virgil departed this life on February 4, 2022 at St Francis Hospital.

Carline Ann (Hanes) Esslinger, 86, of Liberty, MO passed away February 7, 2022.Carline was born December 15, 1935 in Madison, KS, the daughter of Robert Carl (R.C.) and Charline Knapp Hanes. She graduated from Madison High School in 1953 and then attended Venus Academy in Wichita where she received her license as a Hairdresser. Years later, she also received certification as a Secretary at Columbia College in Columbia, MO.

Therese M. LaForge

Therese M. LaForge Age 94 Of El Dorado Therese’s life began on September 21, 1927 in Pittsburgh, KS; the daughter of Martin and Mary (Beitzinger) Lero. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Frontenac, KS. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” LaForge on August 23, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac, KS. Therese followed her vocation, keeping her home and tending to her family. She loved making big family dinners and was known for being a fantastic cook. She loved being involved with her church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society for many years. Therese volunteered her time as a candy striper at Susan B. Allen Hospital. She enjoyed playing golf and was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed going on trips with Bob and their friends. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children: Andy Laforge of El Dorado, Steve LaForge of Augusta, Jim LaForge of El Dorado, Karyn LaForge of El Dorado, Susie Floyd of El Dorado, Julie LaForge of El Dorado, and Marsha (Greg) Bell of Hutchinson; grandchildren Christopher LaForge, Angie Chladek, Geary LaForge, Timothy LaForge, Brian LaForge, Matthew LaForge, Aaron Dibbens, Derek Dibbens, Garrett Ketley, Alisse Ketley, Adam Potter, Mallory Potter, Tucker Bell, Ashtyn Shutlz, Cooper Bell, Jonathan LaForge, Jacob LaForge, Joseph LaForge, Kelsey LaForge and Mason LaForge; 15 greatgrandchildren; sisters Margaret Browning, Leona (Dan) Hoskins and several nieces and nephews. Therese passed away on January 31, 2022 in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, granddaughter Mindy Denny, grandsons Jesse Everly and Michael LaForge, daughter Jane LaForge and daughter-in-law Cathy LaForge. A Vigil Service will be held on Monday, February 7, at 9:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am. Therese will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns in El Dorado. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Amedysis Hospice, the El Dorado Fire Department or to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Julia ”Judy” Mae Pray

Julia “Judy” Mae (Eckert) Pray, age 92, of Wichita, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022. She is survived by her daughters Linda Pray (Rick Clark), Shirley (Shorty) Blank, Jeanie (Gene) Rich, Joyce (Larry) Pettengill and Sheryl (David) Snow. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford Junior “Jr” Pray and her 3 sisters. She lived a long and prosperous life as a homemaker, bookkeeper and plumber - working side by side with her husband in the family business for many years.

Betty June Henn

Betty June (Doan) Henn passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Wichita. Betty was born March 19, 1931 in El Dorado, Kansas to Linza Wayne and Emma (Freeze) Doan. She grew up in Oil Hill and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, Carl Edward Henn on May 11, 1953 and adored him for their entire marriage. She was a convert to the Catholic faith and a lifelong parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Betty was a homemaker and she and Carl had six children; whom she loved dearly. She embraced her vocation as wife and mother. Her gift of hospitality was enjoyed by countless family members, friends and many adopted family members. One of Betty’s strongest gifts was her ability to make everyone feel loved, special and welcome. Betty always had room for another chair at her dinner table, where plenty of laughter and joyful conversation always accompanied a meal. Betty also enjoyed working in several physician’s offices including Dr. Brian and Dr. Reddy. She volunteered for many years at the Kansas Oil Museum where she gave presentations to school kids about growing up in a lease house at Oil Hill. Betty’s love, sweetness and kind personality grew even stronger the last few years of her life. Betty is survived by her 6 children; Tony (Lynn) Henn, Atlanta, GA, Carla (Tom) Dill, Salina, KS, Linda Henn, Wichita, KS, Jerry (Denise) Henn, Basehor, KS, Bill (Donna) Henn, Bellville, TX, David (Tonya) Henn, Haslet, TX. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren: Matt (Kristen) Dill, Cora, Isaac and June, Jackie (Mark) Bacon, Cade Ellie and Owen, Michael (Grace) Dill, John, Cecilia and Francis, Chris Dill, Adam (Katie) Henn, Abbey (Chris) Smreker and Alice, Andrew (Elizabeth) Henn, Chris (Rachel) Henn, Mckenzie and Wyatt, Zachary (Rachel) Henn, Sarah Henn, Nathan Henn, Tony Scruggs and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, brothers, Floyd, Melvin and Danny Doan and one grandson, Richey Scruggs.
