Cheri “Cherie” Kay (Betty) Dodds passed away June 3, 2022 surrounded by family. Cheri was born July 2, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota while her parents were on vacation. Cheri graduated from Kiowa High School in 1968 and Kansas State University in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. On November 27, 1969 she married Dennis Dean Dodds in Kiowa, Kansas.

Larry Coombes, 79, of Douglass, KS, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 in Wichita, KS. Memorial gathering 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Private burial will take place at a later date at Douglass Cemetery Douglass, KS. Larry was born in Wichita, KS on October 17, 1942, to the late Margaret Emilie (Wintz) and Lewis Edward Coombes. He was a retired farmer and had also been a rural mail carrier. Larry was also quite the handyman always having a project he was working on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in his later years watching NASCAR. On June 29, 1963 he married Connie (Hensley) Coombes. She preceded him in death. He is survived by: daughter, Sheri Grissom of Durango, CO; son, Kevin Coombes and wife Angie of Douglass, KS; sister, Marjorie Fox and husband Brian of Mulvane, KS; grandchildren, Jace McCaffree, Collier Coombes, Kendall Coombes. Nancy Sue Maskrid of Derby, died on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Glen Carr House, in Derby, at the age of 83. She was born on September 21, 1938, in Greenwood County, the daughter of Alva Lawrence and Rose Lea (Nunn) Duncan.
Patrick was born on 6/1/1954 in Wichita KS to Charles H Ferguson and Helen C Ferguson (ziba) He grew up on a farm and always talked about how much he enjoyed the farm life. He graduated from Douglas high school in 1972. He went on to work in construction as brick layer for most of his working career. At the time of his retirement he was a security quard for the red cross in Wichita KS.

Jim was born in Dodge City, KS on November 12, 1958, to the late Evelyn (Diehl) and Tommy Council. He owned Council Standard service station for many years, and was later a broker for LPL and an assistant manager at Menard’s. Jim enjoyed shooting, building and flying RC model airplanes, and playing with his grandchildren. On July 10, 1982 he married Nadine Beth (Classen) Council in Dodge City, KS. She preceded him in death in 2017. He is survived by: son, Matthew Council of Wichita, KS; daughter, Kristen Birkel and husband Brad of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Allison and Ella Birkel; brothers, Jerry Council of Lawrence, KS, and Steve Council and wife Jo Ada of Alexandria, KY; sisters, Nancy Goff and husband Clyde of Amarillo, TX, and Janet Kulbiski and husband Joe of Manhattan, KS. Dixie’s life began on March 29, 1943 in El Dorado, KS; the daughter of Walter Rex and Dorothy (Wilcox) Kinsinger. She graduated from El Dorado High School. Dixie had a servant’s heart and cooked for many restaurants and schools feeding nearly half of Butler County. She was united in marriage to Marvin D. Schmidt and later united in marriage to Larry Jones on June 4, 1982. Dixie enjoyed quilting and embroidery, and was a member of the local Quilter’s Guild. She also enjoyed reading. Dixie especially enjoyed keeping after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family includes her husband, Larry of El Dorado; children Gary Schmidt of Wichita, Chris Jones of Salina, Connie Schmidt of El Dorado, Scott (Pamela) Jones of El Dorado; Brad (Billie) Jones of Auburn and Darrell Jones of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Corrine) Kinsinger of Gillette, Wyoming and two nephews. Dixie passed away on May 18, 2022 in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Monday, May 23 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 2pm at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Dixie will be laid to rest at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
