Viola B. Gardner (Clark), 97, left this earth July 1, 2022 and was taken into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord. Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the Carney Cemetery, Carney, Oklahoma under the direction of Strode Funeral Home and Cremation.

Louis McCluer

Louis “Louie” McCluer’s life began on December 17, 1957 in Wichita, KS; the son of Charles Dean and Effie Ann (Windham) McCluer Sr. He worked hard for his family in public service and was known around Butler County, serving in the El Dorado Police and Fire Departments and out at El Dorado Lake in General Maintenance. He married the love of his life, Kristina “Tina” Meis on June 6, 1984. He was the founding CERT Director and was a member of SCCA. Louie enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and was a huge fan of Dale Earndhardt. He loved spending time at El Dorado Lake and made many friends there. Louie wasn’t just a dad or a grandpa, he was Papa and loved his grandchildren dearly. Louie enjoyed playing guitar and could play by ear. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his family was his whole life. Louie’s family includes his wife, Kristina “Tina” McCluer of El Dorado; children Jonathan McCluer of Augusta, Leandre’ McCluer of El Dorado and Christopher (Ashley) McCluer of Wichita; grandchildren Wyatt McCluer, Cheyenne Franks, Brailin Wright, and Kennedy Bables; honorary grandchildren James, Zach and Jackson Van Fossen, Breann, Ema, Tyler, Aubrey Bables and Hayes Dexter; foster son/nephew John Meis; siblings Roland (Debbie) McCluer, Lorena “Kit” McCluer and Charles McCluer, Jr; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends that will miss him dearly. Louie passed away on July 3, 2022 in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Charles Dean III, nephew Jacob Fulk and niece Crystal Sanders. Friends may gather with the family from 6-8pm on Saturday, July 9 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where his memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 3pm. Memorial contributions in Louie’s name may be directed to El Dorado Police and Fire Departments or to the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund. James Marshall

James Robert Marshall, 37, passed away in his home in El Dorado on Tuesday June 28, 2022. James was born on March 4, 1985 in Salina , KS to Stan & Dee Marshall. The family moved to El Dorado in 1990, where James graduated from El Dorado High School in 2003. Following high school, James began a law enforcement journey with the El Dorado Correctional Facility. James graduated from the Police Academy in Hutchinson in 2008. This led to a 15 year career as a patrol officer and K-9 handler with the City of El Dorado. He then joined the Ironworkers Union Local 24 with employment through Belger Cartage. James married his high school sweetheart Brandi Henderson on June 25, 2005. James will be greatly missed by his wife, Brandi, two daughters, Makenzie and Emily, son, Eli, and his K-9 partner Wodan, all of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Dee Marshall, El Dorado; three sisters, Jessica (Justin) Miller, of LaJunta, Colorado; Amy (Steve) Dennis, of Wichita; Rebecca (Kevin) Koenke, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. James is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. A memorial will be held at Carlson Funeral Home, 200 South Star, El Dorado on July 9th, 2022 at 10:00am, followed by a graveside blessing at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Billye Lynne Odom

Billye L y n n e Odom was born on April 22, 1941 in Joplin, MO; the daughter of William Taft and Opal Joe (Davidson) Dungan. She was a 1960 graduate from Baxter Springs High School. She then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University and a masters degree in education from Baker University. On June 6, 1964, Billye was united in marriage to James Brian Odom in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Billye was truly a wonderful educator and spent 34 years at several different schools; including Meadowbrook Junior High, Indian Woods Middle School in Overland Park and Atchison High School. She spent most of her career teaching 7th grade life science. Billye loved to travel; whether she was exploring with her children, grandchildren or church friends, she was always going to new places where she might learn something new. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado. Her greatest joy in life was her family which includes her sons, Doug (Alicia) Odom of El Dorado and Greg (Tabbey) Odom of Carlsbad, New Mexico; grandchildren, Chloe, Jeremiah and Zoey Odom and Brantley Henson and Jaycie Henson (Adam Rubi); and dog, Christy. Billye passed away on June 12, 2022 in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2010; and infant sister, Vicky Dungan. Friends may gather with family on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Carlson Colonial Chapel from 5-7 PM. Graveside services will take place at Baxter Springs Memorial Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Ks at a later date.
