Augusta’s Faith Magruder 1 of 6 winners in the ‘My City, My Home’ essay contest

The League of Kansas Municipalities has announced all six winners of the “My City, My Home” Essay Contest, and Augusta’s Faith Magruder was recognized as the southeast regional winner. This annual competition invited all Kansas students enrolled in seventh grade to submit a 500-word essay on what they love about their community and what makes it their “home.” The essays were evaluated based on an understanding of city services, creativity, clarity, sincerity of thought, and proper grammar.

Queen City Chapter #138 celebrates members 60 years of service

Winfield’s local chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star was thrilled to honor their own Roberta McGrew with 60 + years of service at their most recent meeting. Roberta joined OES on February 13, 1961, in Augusta Chapter #211 in Augusta, Kansas, where she faithfully served until that chapter consolidated into Queen City #138 in Winfield, Kansas.
