Governor Declares Drought Warnings for Butler County
On Thursday, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly approved updated drought declarations for Kansas counties with Executive Order #22-03. This drought declaration places all 105 Kansas counties either in watch, warning or emergency status.
Purity Springs bridge to close for KTA bridge project on March 21

Irrigation system inspections must be completed, submitted by April 30th
The City of Augusta wants to ensure that all citizens have access to safe and clean drinking water, which requires an important step in the irrigation system. Every Augusta citizen who has an irrigation system connected to the City’s water system is required to have a working backflow device and must have it completed and submitted by April 30, 2022.
Butler County students on WSU Fall Dean’s Honor Roll
Wichita State University has announced the names of 3,246 students who were on the WSU dean’s honor roll for fall 2021. To be included on the dean’s honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

KBI confirms investigation at El Dorado State Park
The Butler County Times-Gazette has reached out to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and can confirm an investigation is ongoing at the El Dorado State Park. Earlier this month the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism Human Resource Director Debbie Rosacker confirmed to KWCH that there was an investigation, but declined to name what agency or agencies are conducting it.
