Coutts Museum Displays Artwork Created by EHS Students
With six schools competing in the 2022 Annual Student Art Show hosted by Coutts Museum, El Dorado High School brought home 12 awards. Judged by a couple of Butler Community College students, awards were given to first through third places and an honorable mention.

Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter Meets
Twelve members of the Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Education Sorority met Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in El Dorado for their monthly meeting. A program was provided by representatives from CASA – Court-Appointed Special Advocates - Janett Jacobs, director, Lauren Davis, Treasurer and Board Member, and Daphne Hartman, who handles supervision and recruitment of volunteers.
Board finishes WPD investigation into racist text messages
The city manager’s office is finishing up its investigation of the incident and will also bring in a third party to review the culture of the department. The city’s Citizen Review Board has made several recommendations to the Wichita Police Department and City Manager’s office following an investigation into racist text messages.
Museum breaks ground on new center
Ground was recently broken in El Dorado for a new indoor event center for the Kansas Oil Museum. The Energy Education Center, a new facility spearheaded by Loren Jack, Owner of Albert Hogoboom Oilfield Trucking and President of the Board of Trustees, will be an indoor event center equipped with exhibit showcases, tables, seating, a stage, technology for presentations, a kitchen with a service window, and a 14ft access door for special equipment.
Butler County schools named award winners
Three Butler County elementary schools - two in the El Dorado school district - were recently named the winner of a Challenge Award from the Kansas Department of Education. From El Dorado both Blackmore Elementary School and Skelly Elementary School were named honorees by The Confidence in Education Task Force.
SWE Expo returns to in-person meetings
The annual Engineering Expo by The Society of Women Engineers is returning to in-person meetings this weekend. “Last year’s event was held virtually and those videos are online for all to view and enjoy,” said Sierra Marie Bonn, Miss Butler County 2022 and founder of Let’s Go Full STEAM Ahead! She is one of the event volunteers who will be there teaching about Leonardo’s Bridge.
